As a Warehouse Automation Design Engineer, the ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions for warehouses. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate automated systems into existing warehouse environments, ensuring maximum efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. The candidate will also play a key role in designing systems that improve inventory management, material handling, order fulfillment, and other essential warehouse operations through advanced automation technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design and develop automated systems for warehouses, including material handling systems (e.g., conveyors, sorters), robotic systems (e.g., AGVs, robots), and other automation technologies.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (project managers, software engineers, installation teams) to ensure seamless integration of automation systems into client operations.
3. Perform detailed analysis of warehouse operations to identify opportunities for automation. Provide design recommendations and improvements to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance performance.
4. Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including system specifications, layouts, and schematics, to support the design, installation, and maintenance of automation systems.
5. Evaluate and liaise with third-party vendors for automation equipment, technology solutions, and services. Assist in sourcing and managing components for integration into automation systems.
6. Oversee the testing, debugging, and commissioning of automated systems, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and reliability standards.
7. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in warehouse automation. Propose and implement improvements to enhance system performance, scalability, and overall efficiency.
8. US Business Travel frequently (4-6 months) is strongly required.
1. Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related majors.
2. Experience
• 5+ years of experience in Automation Design, Warehouse Automation or a similar role within a manufacturing, logistics, or distribution environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with automation systems such as conveyor systems, robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and material handling equipment.
• Proven experience working with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, operations, and project management.
• Experience with Design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and other engineering tools for system modeling and simulation.
3. Knowledge
• Strong understanding of Automation technology and Warehouse operations.
• Familiarity with control systems, PLC programming, and industrial robotics.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software systems involved in warehouse automation.
• Understanding of material handling processes and integration with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices for automation design.
4. Skills and Abilities
• Strong English communication.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and design softwares (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Strong problem-solving skills to design and troubleshoot automation solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for working with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines while maintaining quality.
• Familiarity with automation system software, such as PLCs, HMI, SCADA, and integration with WMS.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate and optimize design solutions.
